High School Community Outreach

Central New York is filled with bright young minds trying to pave their path to success. As a local conference committee, we feel it is imperative to reach out to high schools in the community to involve high school students in our conference. Our team is visiting all high schools in the area to educate students on the importance of getting involved in extracurricular activities, giving back to their community and understanding the true meaning of public relations. We also emphasize the benefits of organizations like PRSA and PRSSA and the importance of professionalism inside and outside of the classroom. We will hold a resume workshop to teach students about the benefits of a professional resume, including a lesson on resume creation. Our outreach does not stop there. We are working to engage these students through experiential education, coordinating a case study competition involving local businesses. Teams will submit their work to our conference board and the winning team will be invited to the conference free of charge, where they will experience the power of communications and networking.

Diversity

The William P. Ehling Chapter of PRSSA has members from a variety of different backgrounds, majors, ethnicities and interests. We plan to emphasize the diversity in communications initiative through our theme of integrated communications. We are hosting Michael Meath, a business ethics professor in Newhouse, where he will lead a workshop posing real-world ethical dilemmas and holding a discussion on different resolutions.

How can YOU participate?

During the conference, we will be holding a raffle. Each attendee can purchase a raffle ticket to enter for a chance to win a Jim Boeheim signed basketball. All proceeds will go to the Jim and Julie Boeheim Foundation
